General Topic: Cutting Edge Technology Utilizing People, Knowledge & Decisions!

We will have three national speakers from Nevada, Chicago and Columbus that will each present 15 minutes on three different cutting edge technologies that business across the U.S. are starting to successfully utilize for both security and personnel management processes. This will be quite an exciting opportunity for our members to hear and participate in!

Hundreds of case studies and thousands of incidents continue to reveal that the next generation of management solutions needs to focus more on People, Knowledge and Decisions with effective support systems and technology. Why? Because People, Knowledge and Decisions have become the weakest links and biggest risks as gaps continue to escalate horizontally and vertically across every organization today.

Speaker: Rick Shaw, CEO

Rick Shaw is founder and CEO of Awareity. Rick has over 27 years of experience managing risks, regulatory compliance, technology, processes, clients and people. Rick’s experiences include working at both large organizations like EDS and MCI and smaller regional organizations, and presently as a successful entrepreneur. Rick has been a speaker at several government, financial and educational conferences, as well as multiple industry association meetings.

Rick’s managing experiences range from overseeing a complex disaster recovery program for over 400 bank clients to managing CorpNet Security, a risk assessment organization he founded in 1998. After 20+ years of preparing for multiple disaster scenarios and performing hundreds of risk assessments, compliance assessments and security assessments, Rick’s focus turned to ‘next generation’ solutions and the launching of Awareity in 2004.

Presentation: Lessons Learned clearly show that ‘Megaphone Management’ does not work.

Lessons learned and dangerous trends have shown that technology is not the weakest link in managing data, people, programs or processes. Megaphone Management is the weakest link and clearly Megaphone Management is not working. To ensure better results, organizational leaders need to move away from managing with expensive, ineffective and inefficient tools (such as binders, e-mails, intranets, general/event training, etc.) and implement tools that deliver secure knowledge sharing with individual-level awareness, accountability and auditability. The bottom line is this….You can have the best technology, the best plan and the best procedures money can buy, but it doesn’t matter if individuals lack customized knowledge and accountability and management lacks measurability and audit-ready documentation at the individual-level. If you can’t measure it…you can’t manage it.

Speaker: Michael T. McKibben, Chairman & Founder

Mike McKibben founded Leader Technologies® in 1997 to develop and market voice, streaming media and data communications software to provide better leadership communications enterprises large and small. This effort led to the award of U.S. Patent No. 7139761, the first of numerous patents pending. Mike’s patent for the Digital Leaderboard® engine forms the foundation for all Leader® products and services. It is a web-based communications platform that provides innovative new ways to collaborate at much less cost than existing systems. Currently Leader® offers next-generation audio conference calling services through its Leader Phone® brand and safety and security alerting services through its Leader Alert® brand. Previously, as Founder and CEO of Planning Works, Inc. Mr.McKibben headed the rapid redevelopment of AT&T's flagship unified messaging software AT&T AccessPlus on all Microsoft Windows platforms in close cooperation with AT&T Bell Labs and multiple AT&T messaging and Internet business units. He has also designed and built software applications for decision support, knowledge management, executive information, personal information management, and personal digital assistants on various platforms. Before transforming his consulting practice into software development, Mr. McKibben spent over ten years as a strategic management and productivity consultant with clients such as IBM, NCR, AT&T, Gillette, PaineWebber, The Bank Administration Institute, The Ohio State University, Chemical Abstracts, National Aerospace Plane Project, and Lennox Industries. Presentation: Emergency Response Systems Are Crucial In Today’s World!

The greatest structural cause for the terrorist attacks of September 11th were impediments to communication and information sharing among men and women charged with keeping Americans safe.

— Attorney General John Ashcroft in testimony before the 9/11 Commission, April 13, 2004

Emergency response systems have seen very little development since the implementation of the air raid and tornado warning sirens of the 1950’s. In today’s threat environment, response timing is critical. Security events vary from the sensational to the everyday, from 9/11 to weather alerts. Each event requires a response by a unique set of responders and notification to a unique set of stakeholders. Each event has a unique collaboration requirement before, during and after the event. Each person notified needs to be contacted and kept informed by some combination of phone, fax, pager, PDA, voice mail, bulletin board, instant messaging, document sharing, file sharing, video conferencing, web conferencing or teleconferencing. This two-way, interactive event communication feeds decision making in a managed way all through the event, until all responders have retired from the scene.

Leader® puts it all together: information management, multi-path notice media, and ongoing communication using your present systems.

His presentation will describe how your integrated security platform can seamlessly support both voice and data every step of the way, from pre-planning through event management and post-event assessments, simply.

Speaker: Allan Hug, Co-Founder, President & CEO – InnerGuide Technologies

Allan has been successful in the development and growth of start-up businesses over the last 10 years. During the dot.com era Allan had identified flaws in utilizing the web as a transactional device over a communication tool. Putting this insight to use, in 1999 he co-founded a marketing and communications company strategically investing in a leading syndicated web content provider that sold to Time Inc. in 2006 for $24,000,000.

Being struck by the inefficiencies of communication between 911 authorities and building owners and managers in the midst of a crisis, he set out to solve this problem. Over the last 2 years he has worked extensively with fire officials, SWAT teams, and police commanders to refine a web-based software application that is vital not only in crisis situations, but applicable in day-to-day operations of facility management. In 2007, Allan founded InnerGuide Technologies, the innovator, premier publisher, and optimum service provider of Interactive Facility Navigation Systems in the marketplace.

Presentation: Gaining the Advantage In Protecting Your Facility

InnerGuide Technologies is the creator of an internationally patent-pending application called VantageView™. In short, what Google does for the Earth with Google Earth, InnerGuide does for the interior of buildings with VantageView; Every "nook & cranny" of a facility can be navigated and viewed from a computer screen by an authorized user.

VantageView offers many benefits to both private-sector clients and 911 Authorities:

Insurance providers are now considering off-setting the cost of VantageView for its' assistance in property evaluations, replacement cost calculations, claim filings, litigation benefits, and its enablement of 911 Authorities to respond faster, safer, and better informed. VantageView is currently protecting more that 10,000,000 square feet of property and over 60,000 occupants.
